It's so easy to come into an unfamiliar group, act like you know what you're doing, and get good results. The real challenge is to keep that energy flowing after the clinician is gone. The cool thing is you can always go back and say, "remember what Mr. So-And-So said about this!"
Even when it's the same stuff you've been telling them for months, it works better when someone else says it.

Exactly. I have also learned that, especially with elementary students, you can play up any visitor as a "clinician." They don't need to know that it's just your college roommate in town for a visit, or your supervisor who's evaluating you, or the second clarinetist in the community band. Students are likely to pay a little more attention and perhaps play a little better if they feel the guest is someone special or important. Almost anything that person says is more likely to make an impact than the normal day-to-day kinds of comments from you they start to tune out.
In terms of their actual comments, almost anything they might say will be valuable. If they echo your previous comments, it gives more credibility and weight to what you might say in the future. If they offer something new and different, then you and the students both benefit.
