I spent Saturday morning playing catchup with a lot of work that I had allowed to pile up. One of the things I did was to move the graphic I received from Eric up to the top of my sidebar. I also added some new graphics and removed some information
If you haven’t looked at the main page on my blog, click on this post in your reader, click on Home at the top of my blog, and leave me some feedback about the graphics and stuff I added.
I know that I have a handful of readers who frequently leave comments on here. You guys are awesome! I also know that I have a small army of readers who have never left a comment. You’re awesome too, but could be way awesomer if you left me a comment. It doesn’t have to be long. Just click on this post, look at the home page, come back to this post, and comment right here on the design. Here are some ideas…

You can get free user behavior-tracking, including heatmap analysis, from http://www.crazyegg.com. It’s awesome - it gives you a visual representation of how users behave on your site. You’ll identify ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ spots on your layout, etc. It’s a tool I wish I’d made use of long ago.
It takes about 1,000 visitors to get enough data to make solid conclusions, but it’s the closest thing you can get to being able to look over a reader’s shoulder.

I think we all have two types of readers. Bloggers and non-bloggers. Other bloggers tend to comment while the non-bloggers do not. The bloggers are trying to make the blog a social experience while the non-blogger is seeking information and wants anonymity.
Non-bloggers let me know if I’m wrong ;)
