So You Want To Student Teach?
Thank you for expressing interest in this project. Here is the plan I am looking at. Let me know of any feedback you may have.
- Create a blog (or use your current blog if you have one) and chronicle your student teaching
- Submit a minimum of two articles a month throughout the course of your student teaching semester. Articles should be oriented toward helping yourself and others learn through the process, and may include:
- Important events that happen during the course of the student teaching
- Summaries of conversations with other student teachers, college professors, or other experienced teachers
- Questions you have regarding classroom management, educational philosophy, teaching methods, etc.
- Summaries of what you have learned or wish to learn
- Responses to other Student Teachers involved in the project (please include links to their posts)
- Please include a link to the official Student Teacher Chronicles page (http://www.soyouwanttoteach.com/student-teaching-spring-2009). This will help create a centralized list of all of the posts that are added (I anticipate more than 40 posts a month in the project).
- All bloggers may remain as anonymous as desired.
- Spread the word to as many other student teachers as you know.
- I will summarize some of the recent highlights throughout the semester and send visitors your way.
I have had some emails of concerns regarding these requirements. Some clarification:
- My goals are for the participants (and those who later read the information) to grow through their student teaching process. As we chronicle our experiences and reflect on them, we gain greater insight, thereby helping us benefit more from the situation.
- I have opened up some forums (http://forums.soyouwanttoteach.com) to help with communication. Plus, I will be reading through the blogs and linking to them on the main page (http://www.soyouwanttoteach.com/student-teaching-spring-2009/).
- If you link to my project page, I will get notifications that the posts have been posted. I don’t care how long they are. Again, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Some days you may have time to write eight paragraphs, some days you may only feel like writing two sentences. Whatever works. :)
