Joel Wagner (@sywtt) began teaching band in 2002. Though he had a lot of information, his classes were out of control. He found himself tired, frustrated, disrespected by students, lonely, and on the brink of quitting. He had had enough. He resigned from his school district right before spring break of his second year and made it his personal mission to learn to be a great teacher. So You Want To Teach? is the ongoing story of that quest for educational excellence.

  1. I would love to see someone compile a “100 New Edublogs You Must Check Out!” list or something. Maybe I’ll work on that for January or February…

  2. Hey, thanks for adding this to your list. One thing you challenged me with when I first began blogging was using blog for catharsis. You challenged me to be more positive, more honest and open and less about complaining about things like NCLB. I think it shaped my gradual shift toward adding a more practical element to my blog.
